The EsoGLOVE is a hand rehabilitation device that allows neurologically affected patients to perform hand rehabilitation training from the comfort of their own home. In a rehabilitation center, the EsoGLOVE supports therapists in their activities, so the patient's rehabilitation treatment can be intensified. The software offers several exercises that allow therapists to provide personalized therapy based on the patient's clinical needs.

The EsoGLOVE allows passive mobilization exercises and actively assisted exercises, accompanied by a real-time 3D display on the screen and training of functional tasks with real objects.

Main Features:

  • Continuous passive movement: Passively mobilizes the distal interphalangeal, proximal interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal joints of the hand without active patient movement. Supports early hand mobilization in the acute phase.
  • Functional Task Training: trains the patient to perform critical functional tasks in daily life, such as grasping and pinching, while interacting with real objects.
  • Action observation therapy: real-time 3D representation of tasks, uniform visual effects and proprioceptive feedback.
  • Intention Detection: Detects residual patient movement and assists as needed. 

The glove (which is worn on the patient's hand) is made of biocompatible tissue materials. Therefore, there are no metal parts and it is safe to use. The glove has passed the biocompatibility tests according to ISO10993-1, which is the international standard for the basic safety and essential performance of medical electrical equipment. 

The setup of the EsoGLOVE is straightforward. Users receive a user manual for reference. For patients who rent from us, we perform the setup of the EsoGLOVE software on your home computer, followed by training on how to set up the EsoGLOVE for daily use for the patient's caregiver. The average time to set up the system is less than 5 minutes.

The effect of the EsoGLOVE varies from person to person, as it is an automated device that helps with high repetition hand rehabilitation. Also, the patient must remain focused and motivated throughout the rehabilitation session. This is crucial for relearning hand motor movements as well as stimulating neuroplasticity. We have seen patients with improved grip strength and reduced spasticity after months of EsoGLOVE training.

The current EsoGLOVE system consists of 9 passive and 8 active training exercises. In passive training exercises, patients can train their hands in cyclic and functional task scenarios through pre-programmed settings such as speed and training duration. These exercises train and assist patients with grasping, pinching, thumb resistance, and individual finger movements. Similarly, active training exercises allow patients to train their hands in cyclic and functional task scenarios. The system detects patients' residual movements and assists as needed.

The recommended frequency for using the EsoGLOVE is at least one hour per day.
